Hexia One: Subframe
This project explores the design of a hybrid subframe for the urban electric motorcycle HEXIA ONE, combining traditional manufacturing (tubes, sheets, and welding) with metal additive manufacturing to optimize weight, functionality, and assembly. The subframe serves as an auxiliary structure supporting the passenger, seat, and trunk, while also acting as a visible structural element that enhances the bike’s aesthetic identity. With support from TRUMPF and m4p, key parts have been 3D-printed in AlSi10Mg aluminum, validated through structural simulations and physical prototypes. A real, functional proposal that embraces advanced manufacturing to rethink structural design in personal mobility.
