This study explores whether barefoot shoes—designed to support the foot's natural movement—can enhance the performance of mixed martial arts athletes, who compete barefoot. Despite their potential benefits, these shoes are not widely used in the sport, and the reasons behind this have been investigated.
Drawing on expert insights, personal experience, and athlete testimonials, a model was developed that combines biomechanical advantages with appealing, sustainable design outside the mainstream market. The goal: to boost performance, reduce injuries, and foster an emotional connection with athletes. The project confirms the hypothesis about the benefits of barefoot footwear.
