The Lightcode: A Journey Through Emotional Connectivity

International mobility has generated emotional challenges such as loneliness and social isolation. Stemming from homesickness and FOMO, they lead to health issues such as anxiety and insomnia. Two bedside smart lamps connected to each other, are presented as communication tools. By reformulating light as a bridge of connections, they become aligned lighthouses. Working with technology from a sensory perspective, an interaction based on Silent Gestures and Quite Moments Together is proposed. Using presence sensors to translate non-verbal communication into light patterns. Inspired by the Mediterranean lighthouse, their lightcodes guides us back home.
