Torb is a contemporary response to the challenges of mountain tourism and landscape preservation. As human pressure on fragile ecosystems grows, unguarded shelters offer a chance to inhabit nature with respect. This project centres on the Portella refuge, at 2,265 metres in Andorra, proposing a sustainable intervention model for high-altitude shelters. Combining vernacular architecture with modern techniques, it seeks to create self-sufficient, low-impact spaces. Prioritising efficient resource use and collective responsibility, Torb outlines a new approach to autonomous mountain inhabitation, fostering a balance between tradition and innovation in environmentally sensitive alpine contexts.
